“We were told we needed to perform perfection to be worthy of love. HUMAN(e) exists to unravel that lie completely.”
Levi Barton, RSSW
he / him
Registered Social Service Worker (OCSWSSW) with 15+ years of frontline clinical and harm-reduction experience across addictions, concurrent disorders, 2SLGBTQ+ housing stability (The 519, CASON, SOAR), and crisis de-escalation protocols.
“Peer support isn’t a substitute for therapy—it’s the missing relational bridge that clinical institutions too often overlook.”
Born from a Proven Community Need across Niagara & GTA
Kerry Goring and Levi Barton first united as collaborative board directors at OUTniagara, spearheading the grant-funded Niagara Community Strengths & Needs Assessment. Their empirical findings revealed an acute shortage of trauma-informed, non-clinical spaces where 2SLGBTQ+ folks, men, femmes, and people navigating life upheaval could connect without shame, waitlists, or sterile diagnosis.
HUMAN(e) is the direct, living realization of that mandate: creating peer-led sanctuary across St. Catharines, Niagara, and Toronto.
